WHY COMPOSITE DECK BOARDS?

Supreme Landscapes supply & install composite decking in numerous different styles of Wood Plastic Composite (WPC)  boards for you to choose. Composite decking is extremely long lasting and provides a low maintenance alternative compared to timber. All styles have a dual sided profile which will suit the majority of applications and offer excellent none slip properties. The boards are manufactured from a mixture of 45% recycled High Density Polyethylene and 55% reclaimed Hard Wood, and are available in different colours and textures to suit all budgets.

All styles are available in different lengths depending on the supplier. The boards measure approximately 150mm wide x 25mm thick approx and come complete with a 'honeycomb' centre for maximum stability even during extreme weather conditions.

All composite boards can be installed using a traditional treated timber sub structure but the boards are secured using a hidden T-clip system which are not only aesthetically pleasing but also allow for natural expansion and contraction of the boards.

WHAT ABOUT MY DECKING SUB FRAME?
SUB FRAME
We build our Sub frames from high quality Redwood sourced from Europe. The joists are high pressure treated using Tanalith E class 4 / C16 which is the chemical that preserves the timber. The joists are also kiln dried giving added strength and durability. We also use the same timber to build the bases for Hot tubs.

All our ground posts measure 4" x 4" and are concreted securely into the ground. These posts are treated and incised which means that they are suitable to use in ground and are extremely strong support for your deck.

ESSENTIALS

On all our decking projects we use a Geotextile membrane to stop weed growth forming underneath the decking. This controls the growth of weeds by starving them from light whilst allowing air and water to flow. Hidden clip fixings are used to secure down the deck boards, they are manufactured from high strength polyurethane to prevent corrosion. When the decking requires fixing to a solid structure, we use branded Rawlplug shield anchors. Branded external grade timber fixings are used to construct the framework and if required M10 coach bolts are also utilised, which are manufactured from salt spray tested steel making them highly corrosion resistant and maintenance free.

GUIDELINES FOR CARING FOR YOUR COMPOSITE DECKING

Even though our composite decking in Manchester is a low maintenance product, periodic cleaning is recommended, even if your composite deck board appears clean, it is important to prevent the build-up of pollen and debris that can cause mould growth. It is recommended that furniture placed on the composite deck board is fitted with rubber or felt feet to prevent unnecessary scrapes.

With all the below techniques and If you’re unsure of cleaning/removing stains from your composite deck baords, it is always recommended that you test a small area in an inconspicuous place to determine if the cleaning product will cause any unwanted discolouration.

Dirt, debris and watermarks

Clean the composite decking to remove dirt or debris by using soap, hot water and a bristle brush. Rinse thoroughly.

Chalk Markings

Scrubbing the area with hot soapy water may dislodge some of the chalk. Rinse thoroughly.

Ice and Snow

Rock salt, available in many garden centres, will melt ice on decking. Rinse thoroughly when practical.

Rust Stains, Ground-in Dirt and Grime

Use a cleaning product containing oxalic or phosphoric acid base to lighten or remove the rust or dirt. Product may need to sit on stain 10-15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly.

Oil and Grease Stains

Scrub in a household-degreasing agent as soon as the stain occurs. Rinse thoroughly with warm water.
